ASCOD system description
ASCOD stands for "A" Atherosclerosis, "S" Small vessel disease, "C" Cardiac pathology, "O" Other causes, and "D" Dissection.
Using ASCOD grading system, patients should be graded in the 5 above categories according to the grades below.
Method of classification
Grades of Diseases are :

2. If the disease is present, but the causal link is uncertain
3. If the disease is present, but the causal link is unlikely
0. If the disease is absent
9. If the work up is insufficient to grade the disease
Predefined ASCOD phenotypes described in the tables below (Amarenco P, Bogousslavsky J, Caplan LR, Donnan GA, Wolf ME, Hennerici MG. The ASCOD phenotyping of ischemic stroke (Updated ASCO Phenotyping). Cerebrovasc Dis 2013;36(1):1-5.)
